Firefighters fight wind conditions while putting out blaze in Berrien county

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Firefighters were dispatched on Monday around 4 p.m. to reports of a structure fire on Lakeshore drive, according to Chikaming Township Fire & Rescue.

Officials arrived to find visible smoke and flames coming from the attic vent of the structure.

Firefighters reportedly had difficulty putting out the blaze due to sustained winds being between 25 and 40 miles-per-hour at the time of the fire.

A ravine on the back end of the structure also provided officials with challenges in putting out the blaze.

With the assistance of New Buffalo and Three Oaks Township Fire as well as Bridgman City Fire, the blaze was brought under control over the course of nearly four hours.

No injuries were reported although the cause of the fire remains unclear and is under investigation.
