PENN TOWNSHIP, Ind.— More than 125 firefighters participated in extrication training on Wednesday.
Crews from Mishawaka, Penn, South Bend and Southwest Fire Territory worked on different techniques to save passengers in larger vehicles such as buses and semi-trucks.
The training session was in anticipation of the increase of accidents caused by winter weather.
"Semi's we see them quite often between the toll road and the bypass. Especially with winter coming. On both of those roads, we see a lot of them that will go off the roads, roll over, hit the median wall," said Brian Kazmierzak, Chief of Training at Penn Township.
