Firefighters quickly respond to house fire in South Bend

Firefighters responded to a house fire Saturday just before 5:00 p.m.

The fire happened in the 2600 block of west Washington Street in South Bend.

Most of the damage was done to the roof because fire crews say the fire began in the attic.

The homeowner was home at the time of the fire and made the call to police.

He was able to make it out of the home with no injuries.

Firefighters say they were able to quickly put out the flames and are currently looking into what caused the fire.
