Firefighters release cause of fatal fire on Falcon Street

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A space heater was the cause of a deadly fire at 626 S. Falcon Street on February 27, according to the South Bend Fire Department.



According to fire investigators, the fire started in the basement and caused about $10,000 in damage to the home.



Resident Chester Borowski was injured in the fire.



Esther Borowski was rescued by police officers but died of smoke inhalation at the hospital.
