Firefighters respond to house fire in Niles

NILES, Mich. – Firefighters responded to a house fire on Hickory Street in Niles Monday afternoon.

A witness said flames could be seen in the window of the home.

Firefighters say the homeowners were home at the time and tried to fight the fire on their own.

They were unsuccessful and called 911.
