NILES, Mich. -- Firefighters responded to the Elks Lodge on Canal Street in Niles Thursday afternoon for a fire at the front of the building.
Firefighters said the damage was contained to the exterior.
The fire happened began around 4 p.m. and was quickly under control after multiple departments responded to the scene.
On Facebook, the Elks Lodge wrote, "Small incident at the lodge today -- will not be open tonight but everything is under control..."
The chief of the Niles Fire Department said the fire started after someone tried to exterminate bees.
