Firefighters take part in 5th Annual Mustache Bash

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – St. Joseph County and Elkhart County firefighters were grabbing the razors Saturday night to shave off their mustaches.

More than 100 of Michiana's finest lined up to show off their 'staches for The 5th Annual Mustache Bash. Each firefighter chipped in $20 dollars to enter the competition. If they couldn't handle the month-long wait for the mustache to grow back and wanted out, they had to fork over another $20 dollars.

“We joke with the older guys because a lot of the older firefighters always had mustaches, so this is a chance for younger guys to grow one and show what we got, or don't have in this case,” said Mustache Bash founder Chris Martin.

There was a fun twist—with some prizes—including those with the most striking mustache, best attempt, and celebrity look-a-like.

All of the money goes to the Hoosier Burn Camp and the Firefighter Support Network.
