SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Former Indiana Lieutenant Governor Kathy Davis on Thursday morning discussed the legacy of former Indiana Governor and South Bend Mayor Joe Kernan.
Kernan passed away at the end of July at the age of 74 following a long illness.
When Kernan became governor of Indiana, he appointed Davis as Lieutenant Governor and she was the first female to take the role in the state.
“To me he was much like he was to everybody: beloved, so much fun, gave us all so much confidence to be around him,” Davis said. “I would say what was perhaps special was our shared love of the work.”
