Police investigating fatal crash involving motorcycle, vehicle crash at California Road, State Road 19

ELKHART, Ind. - One person has died following a crash involving a motorcycle and vehicle at the intersection of California Road and State Road 19 Wednesday afternoon, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

A call came in at 2:40 p.m. reporting the incident.

According to police, a motorcyclist was traveling south on State Road 19/North Nappanee Street when it hit the driver's side of a Toyota Sequoia traveling east on California Road/Mishawaka Street.

The Sequoia eventually came to a stop in the westbound lanes of California Road.

Both the motorcyclist and driver of the Sequoia were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

The names of those involved are not being released at this time pending family notification.

The investigation is ongoing.
