'Fishing in the Dunes' at Indiana Dunes National Park

PORTAGE, Ind. -- Officials with the Indiana Dunes National Park announced it will host "Fishing in the Dunes," a program where you'll meet local wildlife biologists and fish with park rangers, while you learn about the invasive Asian Carp.

The morning program will be catch and release and participants will learn about basic fishing techniques and local fish species.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Biologist Eric Brossman and Biological Science Technician Jake Kessel will be there to explain what is being done to stop the Asian Carp from getting into Lake Michigan.

The program will take place on Friday, August 30, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk.

Organizers say there will be 15 sets of fishing gear available for use during the program, but participants are encouraged to bring their own.

Attendees will meet at 100 Riverwalk Rd, Portage, Ind.
