Flames rip through Edwardsburg home

EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — An Edwardsburg firefighter is recovering Friday morning after trying to knock out a fire at a home in Cass County.

The fire sparked just before 1 a.m. on Elkhart Road in Edwardsburg, Michigan. And when fire crews arrived at the home flames were pouring out of the roof.

The chief described the fire as being stubborn.

The family was home at the time and were able to escape out the back of the home.

Firefighters say that they don't know how the fire started. Investigators are expected back on the scene later on Friday to investigate what may have started the fire.
