Flood warning remains in effect for parts of Michiana Sunday

Flood warnings continue for portions of Michiana including the following areas: Elkhart, St.Joseph, Pulaski, Starke, Marshall, La Porte, Cass and Berrien Counties until 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

Flood warnings, according to the National Weather Service, mean that drivers should turn around and heed barriers. When encountering flooded roads turn around, don’t drown. Most flooded deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware at night due to reduced visibility. Also, stay away or be swept away as culverts and river banks can become unstable.

Some locations that may experience flooding include: South Bend, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Goshen, Michigan City, La Porte, Niles, Benton Harbor, Plymouth, St. Joseph, Nappanee, Dowagiac, Westville, Bremen, Buchanan, Knox, Georgetown, Winamac, Trail Creek and Granger.
