SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- All threats are on the table for tonight’s severe weather, but there’s one that always seemingly flies under the radar. While the threat was under the radar, it is indeed one of the only things that radar really picks up, and that’s rainfall.
Last night some our residents got a look at what happens when heavy thunderstorms stay over one area for even a couple of hours.
A couple cells popped up close to Granger, IN and Edwardsburg, MI, and just lingered. These cells dumped a lot of rain in the time that they were over these areas, some localized areas getting 4-5 inches of rain.
Now is this chance for excessive rainfall going to be present tonight? Thankfully these storms are expected to be faster moving than last night due to the fact that the frontal system is going to be pushing it along through our area, but localized heavy rainfall is definitely possible, so make sure you’re staying weather aware tonight.
