UPDATE: Michigan City shooting leaves man dead after critical injuries

UPDATE TWO:   The Investigation Division learned this afternoon that Jacob  Addison succumbed to his injuries sustained in this incident at 2:36 pm. The homicide investigation is ongoing. Based on information collected so far, it was determined that this incident was not a random act of violence and was an isolated incident with no additional danger to the community. 


UPDATE: The Michigan City Police Department reports dispatch received a call around 4:48 a.m. Wednesday for a man who'd been shot inside a residence in the 1300 block of Franklin Street.

Officers responded alongside the Michigan City Fire Department and La Porte County Emergency Medical Services.

Upon arrival, officers located 25-year-old Jacob Addison inside the home.

Addison had been shot and was critically injured.

Life-saving measures were performed immediately, before he was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

The Investigative Division arrived on scene and took over the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing with evidence being collected and interviews still taking place.

Authorities say no arrests have been made yet and no further information will be released at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The Michigan City Police Department reports officers responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of Franklin Street around 4:48 a.m., Wednesday for a reported shooting.

Police arrived to find one person injured from the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation, and the detective bureau was on scene.

Authorities say there's no known threat to the public at this time.
