Florida deputies arrest former South Bend attorney wanted by FBI
The former South Bend attorney who is accused of scamming elderly investors has been taken into custody in Pinellas County, Florida. He was wanted by the FBI.
Sven Eric Marshall, 61, was charged with five counts of mail fraud in December 2018.
Marshall was arrested on a warrant on Wednesday afternoon on Douglas Avenue in Dunedin.
Marshall ran an investment company called Trust & Advisory Services of Indiana, Inc. He promised returns of 4 to 8-percent and provided monthly statements to investors, according to court records.
By January 2016, the business account was nearly empty. When investors requested info about their money, Marshall is accused of misrepresenting the status and balance of their investments, according to court documents.
In December 2017, Marshall stopped communicating with the investors and closed his office, reports said.
The investors were in their 70s or 80s at the time the alleged crimes occurred, reports said.
Marshall's law license in Indiana is on indefinite suspension.
