Florida man killed in two-vehicle Toll Road crash

SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. -- Officials are currently investigating a two-vehicle fatal Toll Road crash that claimed the life of a Florida man around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to Indiana State Police.

Troopers were dispatched to the reported collision on I-90 near mile-marker 111.2 and located the rear-end collision between a passenger car and a transport van.

Upon arriving on the scene, troopers discovered an injured man unresponsive on the roadway, and while LaGrange County EMS attempted lifesaving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been formerly identified as Kubanychbek Abdyrakhmanov, of Coral Springs, Florida.

Preliminary investigations by state troopers state that Abdyrakhmanov likely stopped his vehicle in the left lane of the roadway after hitting a deer and got out of his car to inspect the damage.

Police say that this may have caused a chain-reaction as several vehicles attempted to avoid hitting Abdyrakhmanov's vehicle.

A blue 2014 Ford Transit van, driven by a 26-year-old resident of Toledo, Ohio, was unable to stop in time to avoid crashing into the rear end of Abdyrakhmanov's vehicle at high speeds, according to police.

Officials say that the rear end collision likely caused Abdyrakhmanov to be run over by his own vehicle, which led to his death.

Neither the driver nor his two passengers were injured in the crash, although the driver was sent to LaGrange Parkview Hospital where he will be submitted to chemical testing as required by law for drivers involved in fatal or serious bodily injury crashes.

A passenger within Abdyrakhmanov's vehicle was uninjured.

The eastbound lanes of I-90 were closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation and road crews cleared the scene.
