ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.— Local stores say folks are stocking up in anticipation of the first big snow fall of the season.
Hardware Plus in Osceola saw a big boost in sales thanks to the impending flurry.
“we’re staying busy,” said manager J.D. Simper.
While Simper isn’t expecting a blizzard Tuesday, he is anticipating another rush of customers looking to be prepared for anything.
“Everyone wants that white Christmas and then most people are done after that,” he said.
Seasonal snowflakes are bringing customers out to do a different kind of holiday shopping.
“A lot of salt a lot of shovels, we’re selling a lot to a lot of plow guys so we’re selling big skids of salt,” said Simper.
Mountains of salt lined the front of the store Monday, awaiting the next wave of shoppers to pick them up for the front of their homes.
A stack of reflective gear and sand bags were also readily available to help you avoid trouble on the roads.
“The point of those, is it’s for weight in the car to help stabilize it,” said Simper.
