Ford announces plant expansion

DEARBORN, Mich. — Automaker Ford has announced that it will create more than 2,000 jobs at new plants in Michigan's southeast.

The auto company said it plans to invest more than $700 million in equipment and production capacity at six facilities.

Ford previously announced its goal to add 12,000 hourly jobs and a $6 billion U.S. plant investment by 2015.

It said the investments will ensure the Michigan plants can support the growth plans.
