Ford is recalling 2.9 million cars and SUVs due to an unintentional rollaway issue.
The affected vehicles are the 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and the 2015-2018 Edge.
The transmission on the affected vehicles may not really be in park despite the shifter position indicating the car was shifted to park, which may cause the car to roll away.
The safety regulator says it received six reports of property damage and four reports of injuries potentially related to the problem, but no deaths.
