Former coworkers and friends prepare to race for Denise Bohn

This weekend is the Southwest Michigan Race for the Cure, an annual event to end breast cancer. It's a walk and run that former radio host Denise Bohn was passionate about. Now that she has died, her friends will take steps in her honor.

Some former co-workers of Denise at 98.3 The Coast will be traveling to Kalamazoo for the race. They see it as another way to honor her legacy. 

The theme for this year's event is "Denise Bohn Strong." Participants will be able to join her team, Team Tata, and wear a wristband with the hashtag. 

It's an event Denise was passionate about. Her coworkers say she expressed that it was struggling, and relied on them for advice and help. They had already planned to participate. But now the walk and run takes on a new meaning. 

"There are resources in southwest Michigan that the race directly affects," said Dave Doetsch, GM at 98.3 The Coast. "Even though the race takes place in Kalamazoo it funds programs here on the western side of Berrien county. We wanted to make sure that those didn't drift because Denise isn't here to be the champion that she always has been."
