Former Director of Public Safety suing Benton Harbor

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Former Benton Harbor Director of Public Safety Roger Lange is suing Tony Saunders and the city of Benton Harbor.

In the lawsuit, Lange says Emergency Manager Tony Saunders violated the whistleblower act by retaliating against Lange for sending letters to the governor's office about Saunders.

Lange said in his letter to the governor that Saunders' termination of Robert O'Brien and Dan Unruh violated the Civil Rights Act. Lange alleged they were terminated because of their race.

Lange is asking for his former job back and damages.
