Former Keeler Township Fire Chief under investigation

Former Keeler Township Fire Chief Matt Quinn is under investigation for possible embezzlement.

The Van Buren County Prosecutor's Office says it received a report from Michigan State Police on Wednesday and will review it to determine if charges will be filed.

According to Township Supervisor William Kays, Quinn resigned on April 8th citing personal reasons.

Kays says the funds allegedly involved were not township funds.

Quinn's attorney released the following statement:

Mr. Quinn has been and remains a pillar in this community. No criminal charges have been filed against Mr. Quinn at this time, so we ask only that he and his family’s privacy be respected.

However, we are cooperating with this investigation and will continue to do so going forward.
