Former Lakeshore teacher charged following accusation of sexual assault

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - The Berrien County Prosecutor's Office has released the name and charges against a former Lakeshore Public Schools teacher who was accused of sexually assaulting a student.

Perry Heppler, 66, a former second grade teacher, was arrested on one count of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree.

Heppler has a preliminary examination conference on March 8.
