Former ND player now trains police K9s
NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- He spent hours training with the Notre Dame Football team but a former player is back in South Bend training dogs.
Joe Brockington played line-backer for the Irish in 2006 when a surgery left him with down time.
He has now found a passion for training K-9s.
Now he does it full time at his kennel in Pennsylvania and is bringing a new round of recruits for the South Bend police.
"I came back to town to help South Bend Police Department with its K-9 school. Came out for the last couple of days to help the dogs get ready to hit the streets in the next couple of weeks," said Brockington.
Brockington also competes with his own dog in obedience competitions around the country.
