Former Notre Dame Football All-American Dan Shannon has passed away, the university announced Friday.
Shannon passed away earlier in the week
The university said that Shannon was the team captain and president of the Monogram Club.
Shannon was a linebacker for the Irish from 1951 to 1954 and over his four years, the Irish had a 32-5-3 record.
According to the University, Shannon also tied for 8th in Notre Dame Football’s history in recovered fumbles in a season with four in 1951.
Shannon served as the team captain in 1954 and during the same season, he was named a Sporting News All-American linebacker.
