Former Washington High School and Notre Dame star Skylar Diggins-Smith signs with the Seattle Storm

SEATTLE, Wash. -- The Seattle Storm announced today that they have signed 6x WNBA All-Star and Olympic gold medalist, Skylar Diggins-Smith on a 2-year deal.

Diggins-Smith was formerly with the Phoenix Mercury, stopping her last season in 2022 short as she was pregnant with her second child.

In 2022, Diggins-Smith had a standout season, ranking first in minutes played, second in games scoring 25 or more points, third in scoring, third in free-throws made, sixth in total field goals made, seventh in assists, eighth in steals and tenth in blocks. And she was pregnant.

Diggins-Smith became a free agent last year after tensions grew with the Mercury and the team no longer allowed her to use their practice facilities after her pregnancy.

The star guard has finished within the top 10 in points per game and assists per game in the last five seasons she played professionally.

Diggins-Smith will be joining former Notre Dame teammate, Jewell Loyd, with the Storm. The two led the Irish to a Final Four appearance in 2013.

The South Bend native played under Coach Marilyn Coddens at Washington High School, leading the Panthers to four straight State Championships, winning in 2007.
