Four-vehicle crash at Elkhart County intersection

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reported a crash release at 1:35 p.m. with four vehicles at the intersection of County R.D. 19 and County R.D. 14.

The driver of a 2013 GMC Terrain was intoxicated, and rear ended a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The Jeep was sent forward into a 2019 Subaru Ascent that was in turn pushed into a Chevrolet HHR.

The GMC driver failed to stay at the scene and fled on foot. The Chevrolet driver also fled the scene driving away on westbound lanes of County R.D. 14. 

The driver of the Jeep was transported to the Elkhart General Hospital for complaints of neck, shoulder, and right arm pain.

The Subaru driver was transported to Elkhart General Hospital as well for a complaint for neck pain.

The GMC driver was incarcerated for OWI and for leaving the scene of a personal injury crash. The Jeep driver was cited for never receiving a license.
