Father of Smith Six mourns, cause of fire ’undetermined’
SOUTH BEND, Ind.— The South Bend Cubs season may be over but this weekend a new sport is taking over the confines.
They’re trading in their bats for clubs, transforming into a 9-hole golf course for a great cause.
It’s all the fun of a day on the course but this isn’t your average 9 holes.
There’s no chance of losing your balls in the trees or water, scattered across the field are 9 pins.
In top golf style, the tee boxes are spread out around the concourse with hole nine at home plate.
Skill level is not important, it’s all about having a good time for a good cause.
"It’s a great way for golfers and non-golfers alike to come and have a great evening and support a great cause,” said Jenny Zimmerman with First Tee. She says she got the idea from other major league stadiums and wanted to bring the fun to South Bend.
All proceeds will go to First Tee Indiana. Their mission is to teach kids the lifelong game and lessons along the way without them having to worry about greens fees or equipment.
