SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A summer staple makes its return to South Bend this weekend. The Four Winds Invitational is back at South Bend Country Club.
The event brings 144 of the world's top rising female golfers to the course.
The Four Winds Invitational is part of the Epson tour, the ladies' development tour of the LPGA.
The event starts on Friday with all golfers playing both Friday and Saturday. At the end of Saturday, the field's cut down to the lowest 60 and tied.
After the cut, the top players will return Sunday morning for the final round.
Leaders are expected to tee off around noon. It all ends with a trophy presentation at 5:30 p.m. on the 18th green.
The tournament's raised more than a million dollars for Beacon Children's Hospital over the years.
Funds from this year's matchup will support tech upgrades to an at home monitoring system.
The software allows parents who have children in the children's hospital to stay in touch and see them in real time when parents aren't physically by their bedside.
"Being at South Bend Country Club in South Bend, Indiana, to be able to take part in something like this that helps raise funds for such a good cause; to be just a little small part of that, and be able to host is really special," said Head Golf Professional at South Bend Country Club Greg Helmkamp.
Spectating and parking are free for anyone wanting to attend.
"We encourage everybody to come out. They're really good players. They're very highly skilled golfers, and to watch them is very entertaining. We hope everybody comes out and takes advantage of that," Helmkamp said.
