SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The final steel beams of Four Winds South Bend’s expansion project were placed on Tuesday.
Tribal Council members, gaming commissioners, the Elder Council, and other groups were in attendance for the ceremonial placing of the final steel beam on the facility’s expansion.
The participating parties even signed the final steel beam before it was placed to celebrate the occasion.
Four Winds South Bend and the Tribal Council say the completion of the steel beam phase of the expansion is a great day for the tribal community and the community of South Bend.
“It was just, you know, a beautiful ceremony today. It was a great day to come together in the community, not only the tribal community but also the community of South Bend. And, I think this is going to be a great project. And, when it's completed, it's just going to be a showstopper. We’re so excited,” said Rebecca Richards, a Tribal Chairwoman for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians.
It is estimated that the new expansion will create over 300 new jobs once construction is officially completed in the first quarter of 2023.
