Free family Sunday at Ruthmere Museum

ELKHART, Ind. - The Ruthmere Museum is holding its first free family Sunday of the 2024 season on April 7.

The museum will be open for tours free of charge from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with the last tour beginning about 15 to 20 minutes before 4 p.m.

The Ruthmere Museum is continuing to celebrate its 50th year of operation, having opened to the public on September 8, 1973.

Officials say they aim to serve as a cultural leader in the Elkhart community and keep the history of Elkhart alive for generations to come.

The first Sunday of each month, April through November, either Ruthmere Museum or Havilah Beardsley House is open to the public for no admission between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Ruthmere is open in April, June, August, and October. The Havilah Beardsley House is open in May, July, September, and November.

When one site is open for a free family Sunday, the other site is closed. The Havilah Beardsley House will be closed on Sunday, April 7.

Ruthmere Museum is located at 302 E Beardsley Ave. in Elkhart.
