Free K-12 Summer Travel Program returns to South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Interurban Trolley and the South Bend Public Transportation Corporation announced Wednesday the return of the free K-12 Summer Travel Program.
The program provides unlimited free travel on public transportation for K-12 students from June through August.
Transpo’s Summer Travel Program began in 2013 at a discounted rate, but was made free in 2018, which contributed to a 300% increase in K-12 summer ridership.
K-12 students only need to provide a valid student ID card in order to be eligible for free travel on any and all Transpo or Interurban Trolley fixed routes.
For children who do not attend schools that issue ID card’s or are homeschooled, students can visit the Transpo Information Booth in South Bend and can be contacted at 574-232-9901 to obtain a pass.
