SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Tuesday’s freezing rain forced airlines to delay or even cancel a number of flights at South Bend International Airport.
Close to a dozen flights were cancelled Wednesday morning causing a travel headache for flyers.
Most of the cancellations are affecting early morning departures heading to regional airports like Chicago and Detroit, but people flying to Dallas, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Charlotte will be impacted as well.
There are also cancellations at connecting airports in like DTW in Detroit and O’Hare and Midway in Chicago.
Airports say last night’s freezing rain slicked up the runways making it dangerous for planes to fly in or out.
Airlines recommend flyers check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport.
