Friends, classmates remember Niles teen killed in deadly crash
MILTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Classmates, friends and family are remembering Dajauna Davis who was killed in a car accident Wednesday.
Wednesday, Davis struck a tree along Ironwood Road just south of Redfield Street.
Right now, flowers and a small angel mark the spot where Dajauna Davis, 19, lost her life. It was a much different scene along Ironwood Road than Wednesday night, when emergency responders worked to free the 19-year-old mother from her badly damaged mini van.
Police say Davis crashed into a tree after losing control of her vehicle, but she did not survive her injures.
For friends and family, the news of her sudden death is shocking.
"She was just an amazing person, there is nothing we can say or do," says Tanethea Williams. "I mean, words can't bring her back."
The 19-year-old mother was going to school at the Regency Beauty Institute, but Thursday on the door a sign read: We are not taking in guest today due to an unexpected loss in the Regency family. We will begin regular hours Friday, May 3rd.
"Her beautiful smile, her beautiful personality, she was just a beautiful soul," says Rickeshia Wear. "It was a blessing to have met her."
"Everyone on behalf of Regency loved her, she touched many hearts," says Williams.
Now her loved ones say their hearts are with the 1-year-old son she leaves behind.
"It's really hard him and her not being together because that is all she talked about," says Wear. "Jay couldn't wait to get home to her baby, everyday."
Police say Davis was speeding before she crashed and many neighbors say speeding has become a huge concern on that stretch of Ironwood Road.
ABC 57 checked with the Cass County Sheriff's Department to see if the road is a concern with law enforcement, but according to local records there has only been one accident there in the last three years.
