Gas line cut near Lakeville

LAKEVILLE, Ind -- US-31 was backed up for a couple hours Tuesday afternoon after a gas leak was reported near Lakeville.

It happened around 6:00 p.m. when contractors were digging a hole and hit a gas line.

Crews are in that area doing road work.

Officials say the leak was not a danger to nearby residents, but they did say one home would be affected.

"They're going to be out of gas until NIPSCO makes it out here to repair the line," said Battalion Chief Charlie Lawson of the Southwest Central Fire Territory.

Crews expect NIPSCO to have the gas line repaired by Tuesday evening.
