PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- Gas prices have declined for the last 13 weeks but still remain higher than they were one year ago.
On average, gas prices across Michiana are around $3.50, lower than the record high prices at the beginning of the summer.
Gas Buddy says the national average price of gas has declined for the 13th week in a row. Prices went down 7 cents over the last week and are down almost 30-cents from a month ago.
As gas prices slowly decline, one driver said it's only a small step in helping cut costs.
“It helps that the gas prices are going down some but I think it’s still really hard for everyone with prices in general being high. I don’t know if it’s making much of a difference," Chandler Shiflette said. “It has definitely impacted my family and myself.”
Experts say although gas prices are declining they do expect food and rent prices to increase.
