Goshen High School placed on lockdown due to BB gun in parking lot

GOSHEN, Ind. -- A parent spotted a visitor in the Goshen High School parking lot who was showing his friends a BB gun and called 9-1-1. The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution at the end of the school day.

Goshen High School was put on lockdown at the end of the day Thursday as a precaution when a parent called 9-1-1 after seeing someone with a gun in the parking lot.

According to Goshen Police, a Fairfield student arrived to the Goshen High School parking lot to visit with some friends who attend the school.

While visiting, the 18-year-old showed his friends his new BB gun.

A parent who was picking up their child saw the BB gun and believed it was a real gun and called 9-1-1.

The School Resource Officer located the individuals involved and determined the weapon was a BB gum.

No crime was committed and no one was taken into custody.

Goshen Police and Goshen Community Schools felt it was important to share the details of the incident in the interest of maintaining open communication.

The school was on lockdown at the end of the day as a result of the incident.
