Gov. Daniels to give Republican response to State of the Union address

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- This week, Gov. Mitch Daniels will give the Republican response to the president's State of the Union address.

Some political watchers say Daniels is the perfect politician for the job.

"I think someone that is seasoned like Daniels, who is free to speak being that he's at the end of his term,” said Terri Jett, head of Butler University’s political science department. “We don't know exactly what his next move is going to be so, you know, he can really be forthright."

John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, call Gov. Daniels an eloquent spokesman for limited government.

Watchers say he's a logical choice, to take on the president when job creation and the economy are at the forefront and don't expect him to hold back.
