Gov. Snyder cuts health care coverage for some state lawmakers

LANSING, MICH.--Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is cutting costs.

On Tuesday, Snyder ended health care coverage for some current and all future state lawmakers.

The old law allowed ex lawmakers who served at least six years to get health coverage once they turned 55. It was mostly paid for by tax payers.

It cost about $5 million to provide to for the 348 retired lawmakers, and their dependents each year.
