MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Mickey Smith Jr., 2020 Grammy Music Educator Award recipient, visited Mishawaka High School on Monday to meet with students and teachers to share motivational stories.
Band classes got to listen to Smith’s love of music while he encouraged students and teachers to pursue their passions in life.
“My advice to anybody out there that has a dream would be simply three words. 'Keep on going.' Because, literally, your next step can be your best step. And, the next sound can be your best sound, but only if you keep on going,” said Smith.
After winning Teacher of the Year seven times in Louisiana as well as a Grammy, Smith now travels to schools across the country as a motivational speaker for both students and teachers.
