Early Saturday morning, officers located a vehicle thought to be involved with a trailer theft in the county.
The vehicle, which had a false license plate, was found on the south side of the county with a trailer attached to it, reports said.
After waiting an hour for the suspect involved to arrive at the vehicle, the man, identified as Blasko, showed up, got into the vehicle, and drove off.
A few blocks later, officers tried to perform a traffic stop but Blasko allegedly did not stop for police.
Officers pursued Blasko toward Elkhart County.
Prior to crossing into the county, the rear of the trailer Blasko was pulling collapsed, blowing the trailer's back tires.
Upon entering Elkhart County, Blasko drove into a subdivision and came up on a dead-end street.
Blasko drove through yards and hit a police vehicle, eventually coming to a stop following the impact, police said.
He was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and eventually transported to the St. Joseph County Jail on the above charges.
