Growing concerns over West Nile Virus in Michigan

DETROIT -- Concerns continue to build with the West Nile Virus in Michigan.

On Wednesday, the Michigan Department of Community Health issued a health advisory.

There have been 80 cases and four deaths reported in Michigan because of the virus.

State health officials say they are recording high levels of West Nile activity across the state.

Residents are advised to avoid being outside when mosquitoes are active (dusk and dawn); wear insect repellent; wear long sleeves and pants outside; and drain standing water around your home.
