Police: Guns, drugs found during traffic stop, three arrested
MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Three people have been charged in connection with a traffic stop made Saturday evening after officers attempted to conduct a welfare check on a woman who called police.
Around 11 p.m., Mishawaka Police responded to an apartment complex for a welfare check on a woman who was in a black Lexus with tinted windows. She sent a message to a friend that the other people in the car had guns and drugs, according to the probable cause affidavit.
A short time later, a dark blue Lexus was found at the Extended Stay Hotel on Main Street in Mishawaka.
As officers approached the dark blue Lexus, a black Lexus pulled into the parking lot with a Mishawaka Police vehicle behind it.
When the black Lexus stopped, a woman got out of the car and ran into the hotel and allegedly dropped four syringes along the way, according to the probable cause affidavit.
An officer saw the passenger on the driver's side, later identified as 22-year-old Quentone Gandy Jr, was holding a gun in his hand, reports said.
Officers drew their weapons and took cover.
The three remaining occupants of the vehicle were then secured. The driver was identified as David Weaver and the front seat passenger was identified as Kyle Davidson.
Police searched the car and located 14-grams of suspected meth, 2 grams of suspected cocaine in Weaver's pocket and a semi-automatic handgun was found under the driver's seat, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Inside the hotel, they located the woman who had run from the car and she was identified as Leah Seifer.
Police found a marijuana pipe in her purse, according to reports.
Seifer told police she and the three others attempted to buy $1,000 worth of heroin but got ripped off.
She said Weaver was upset about being ripped off and began waving a gun around threatening to shoot people, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Gandy has been charged with carrying a handgun without a license, possession of marijuana and possession of a narcotic drug.
Weaver was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and carrying a handgun without a license
Seifer was charged with unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.
