Harbor Shores general manager talks Senior PGA Championship cancellation

BENTON HARBOR, Mich.— The General Manager of Harbor Shores, Josh Doxtator, opened up about the impact of the cancellation of the 2020 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

The nationally recognized golf event was canceled due to concerns for the spread of COVID-19. It was originally supposed to be held in May in Benton Harbor.

Doxtator said that event organizers tossed around the idea of pushing the event out to a later date but ultimately decided the cancellation was the safest way to go.

“I definitely think every avenue was explored,” Doxtator said. “It is an important part of Benton Harbor and showcasing the area to not only the local tourists but also on a global reach, broadcasting to the world. I think every avenue was explored in that respect.”
