Harrison Elementary School receives grant from Dick's Sporting Goods
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Kids at South Bend's Harrison Elementary School will soon have several new after school activities to keep them busy thanks to a donation from the Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation.
The school was given $20,000 to bolster its sports programs.
Before the donation, the school was only able to fund 2 sports programs.
School officials say with the funds, students won't have to pay to participate and specialized equipment will be available for each sport.
“Receiving this prestigious grant and being the first to do so in our areas absolutely amazing. We are just elated that Dick's Sporting Goods saw that our grant stood up and out amongst all the other applicants," Principal Karla Lee said.
The school will be able to include baseball, basketball and cheerleading to its extracurricular activities.
