Heavy snow starts this evening; Sunday snow day
There will be periods of heavy snow tonight and lasting through early Sunday morning. If possible, avoid travel during this time.
To start off the weekend, today is cloudy and dry – snow won’t start until after 7 p.m. for most. Use the dry morning and afternoon to run any of your weekend errands. Temperatures warm just above freezing this afternoon, then dip into the upper 20s overnight.
The heaviest periods of snow are around midnight through early Sunday morning. If possible, avoid traveling late tonight and early tomorrow.
Higher snow totals are in southwest Michiana, with slightly lower totals in the north and east. Most can expect close to 6 inches of snow.
Be cautious as you shovel this snow – it is heavy and wet, and can be strenuous to shovel. You may want to break out the snow blower for this snow storm.
During the day Sunday, lighter snow showers continue and will bring small accumulations. It will definitely be a Sunday snow day - enjoy making a snowman or sledding with your family. Snow showers could continue into Sunday night and early Monday morning. A slow Monday morning commute could be possible. Luckily Monday afternoon through Wednesday look to have a quiet forecast.
