Help the city of Goshen decorate Mirth tree for the holidays!
GOSHEN, Ind. -- The city of Goshen needs your help decorating the town with some holiday spirit!
Goshen’s Department of Environmental Resilience invites neighbors to decorate the Mirth tree located outside of the Utility’s Business Office on Fifth Street with eco-friendly ornaments.
This means glass, plastic and glitter are discouraged, while items like wood, pinecones, popsicle sticks, and pipe cleaners are encouraged.
Paper and cardboard are okay to use, just be mindful that the tree is outside so the weather could affect those materials.
If you don’t have the items to make one at home, you can make one at the City Hall on December 16th!
That Friday from 10-2 P.M., all materials will be provided for you to make your own natural ornaments!
This is just one of many efforts the city is making to go green.
On the same eco-friendly route, Goshen has been planting lots of trees and working on becoming more bike friendly.
It also wants to reduce emissions from government operations down to 0% by 2035.
Goshen also started a curbside recycling program back in August to encourage more recycling and less trash creation within the city.
Ornaments can be made and hung up on the Mirth tree anytime from now until December 23rd.
You can also come back and take your favorite ornament home from the 24th-26th. You don’t have to have made one before to take one, as the city is encouraging giving without expectations.
You can find more information at the Goshen city’s website.
