High school students volunteer at Food Bank

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Some local high school students spent President's Day packing boxes in South Bend. The students volunteered at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana unloading donations and sorting food for deliveries.

The event was sponsored by the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and is the organization's yearly mission to give back to the community.

"It teaches responsibility and community responsibility and part of being a good citizen is giving back and they can see the need there," said Wilma Gray, Alpha Kappa Alpha.

Monday was just one part of the several workshops the girls participate in leading up to the Cotillion Ball in April.
