High speed chase ends with two in handcuffs

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A high speed chase started at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and went on for 25 minutes. Speeds topped at 120 mph.

The Lakeville Assistant Chief said he was patrolling on Oak Rd. when he saw a green Lumina swerving over the center line.  The chief turned his lights on to pull the driver over. That's when the suspect took off.

The chase ended in Veldman's repair shop parking lot on State Road 2 after the suspect hit an embankment and crashed into another car.

Police arrested the suspect, 27-year-old Richard Gee.  He is wanted on federal charges in Virginia for distributing cocaine and heroin.

Police found syringes, spoons, and materials used to make meth and heroin in the car.

"We saw two police cars flying down and then they hit the embankment over here and they turned around in the parking lot and then hit a parked car,” said witness Angie Watkins.

Gee has been arrested taken to the St. Joseph County Jail.

Two women were also in the Lumina.  One was arrested for two local charges.
