After closure in 2020, YMCA reopens in downtown
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A historical South Bend house is being moved from Eddy Street today.
The house was originally built by Notre Dame Professor, Thomas Boyer in 1937.
He had used bricks from one of Notre Dame’s buildings to build the home when he bought the property from Notre Dame.
Mia Martin, the current homeowner says her father, who was also a teacher at Notre Dame, passed down the home to her and her family.
“We wanted to save the house, it has a lot of historical significance, a lot of ties to Notre Dame,” said Martin.
The House was put on a trailer and pulled by a bull dozer.
